Located in the heart of western Minnesota’s prairie, Spartan Wind is a community-owned project that was created to generate power by harnessing clean, safe, renewable wind energy while maximizing the benefits to the local community.

The mission of Spartan Wind is to develop a community-based energy development (C-BED) that provides opportunities for the local community to be involved through direct local ownership, participation and control.

Through the development of a C-BED, local community members, rather than large outside or foreign corporations, will provide the stewardship for, and receive a majority of the economic benefits from, the wind project. Spartan Wind will also play an important role in helping Minnesota achieve its alternative energy goal of generating 25% of its electricity from renewable resources by 2025.
